Storytelling

Our Mission

Research in music cognition backs up a crucial point: that musical learning, perception, and expression are shaped by both early development and cultural experience, making music a common universal aspect of children’s cognitive and social development. Across multiple studies, researchers have shown that humans are born with the foundation to perceive musical elements such as pitch and rhythm, which are then improved through interactions with their environment.

The book is based on the LAMA labs' core foundation of language and music. Concepts such as rhythm and pitch were included to reflect early perception abilities observed in infants, while sections on creativity, memory, and social connection were inspired by research demonstrating the role music has in cognitive development and social bonding. By combining these research-based findings into an accessible format, the book aims to translate complex information into simple, engaging, and appropriate content for young audiences.

Music and Me is a book I dedicate to advancing children's understanding of music psychology. Our book focuses on the significance of pitch and rhythm in both speech and music, designed to support children's emotional and cognitive development. We offer an interactive PDF version of our book, providing an engaging platform for children to learn and explore.
